Mitch McConnell congratulates Biden on victory

WASHINGTON, DC (Reuters) – Mich McConnell, the leader of the U.S. Senate Majority Republican Party, who did not acknowledge the victory of Biden and Kamala Harris even weeks after the November 3 general election, finally sent a message congratulating Biden on his victory.

Mitch McConnell was congratulated on Monday, December 13, for making sure Biden received the electoral votes needed to win. Political observers say the decision comes ahead of a Senate election in Georgia. This is the first time a senior leader of the Republican Party has congratulated Biden on his victory.

Mitch McConnell warned that Republican senators should not raise objections for any reason when the Electoral College votes are officially announced in the U.S. Senate on Dec. 6.

It is imperative for both parties to win the by-elections in Georgia on December 4. The U.S. Senate currently has Republican (50) and Democratic (48) seats. Democrats must win both seats in Georgia. But only with a vote of vice president can a majority be obtained. The Republican Party is facing the run-off election with great caution.
