MIT Scholar’s Breakthrough Study Finds “Reversal” for Alzheimer’s Disease

Cai Lihui, a scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an alumnus of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of Chung Hsing University (Li-Huei Tsai, an expert in the field of brain research, the team recently published in “PNAS Publishes Breakthrough Study Finds ‘Reversal’The new method of Alzheimer’s disease has attracted high attention in the international academic circle,The American academic circle even believes that Cai Lihui has the potential to be nominated for the Nobel Prize in the future.

Cai Lihui is currently a professor in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.Academician of the American Academy of Sciences, and was elected as the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008 with the highest votes and the mostYoung female academician, the main research areas include neuropsychiatric disorders,Autism and Alzheimer’s disease. Cai Lihui graduated from the Department of Veterinary Medicine of Chung Hsing University in 1982.Then he obtained a master’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin, and a doctorate in virology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1990. In 2007, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni of Chung Hsing University.

This time Academician Cai published a major research, teachers and students of Xing are very excited,President Xue Fusheng of Chung Hsing University will also send a letter to express his congratulations. And invited Academician Cai to give a special speech when he returns to Taiwan to return to his alma mater in the future. Principal Xue said,Taiwan’s higher education is absolutely capable of cultivating excellent prospective research talents.

Cai Lihui’s team used peptides, also known as peptides,Interfering with enzymes that are normally overactive in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients. The compound prevents an enzyme called CDK5 from becoming overactive, which can damage nerves, lead to cognitive decline. Cai Lihui said, “The effect of this peptide is very significant; In terms of reducing neural tissue degeneration and neuroinflammatory responses, and even rescuing behavioral deficits,I saw miraculous results. After further experiments, the researchers are optimistic that,The peptide could eventually be used to treat people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

And when the peptide was tested in mice with Alzheimer’s disease and overactive CDK5,The mice had less DNA damage, neuroinflammation, and neuronal loss.Researchers also have Alzheimer’s disease, and having a mutant form of Tau causes brain damageTested on mice with protein tangles. After treatment of these mice, Tau protein flowLine rate and neuronal loss are both reduced. Furthermore, mice receiving the test peptide,Compared to control mice given the scrambled peptide, they performed better on the water maze task. This new discovery,Drugs capable of reversing the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease could be developed in the future.
