Two games, two defeats, four goals conceded – because Jonas Omlin had imagined starting at Borussia Mönchengladbach quite differently.
“I would have preferred to start with two wins, but the work goes on,” said Omlin: “We now have to regenerate quickly, analyze the game. The good thing is that I don’t have that much time to think about it too much. Now we have to score points on Saturday.”
The new signing from Montpellier had already conceded three goals against Bayer Leverkusen in his Bundesliga debut (2:3).
After 37 minutes he dropped the ball in the five after a corner from Augsburg, Dion Drena Beljo dusted off the supposed FCA lead – but the VAR saved Omlin.
When asked what happened when he made a mistake, the 29-year-old only said: “It was offside.” When asked if he wasn’t lucky there was only the same answer. (DATA: Bundesliga results)
All in all, it was a difficult start for the Swiss, who only came to Gladbach shortly before the Leverkusen game due to Sommer’s late transfer.
“I haven’t seen much of the new environment yet. We talked a lot, there were a lot of videos,” revealed Omlin: “I haven’t actually trained that much either. But the best way to get to know each other is during the games anyway. I hope I can settle in a bit next week.”
In terms of sport, the pressure on Gladbach is not getting any smaller. Due to two bankruptcies in a row, the gap to the important international places has grown to seven points. (DATA: The table of the Bundesliga)
