Mistake of Stealing Bahar bin Smith’s Money

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Very Idham Henyansyah’s attorney aka Ryan Jombang |, Kasman Sangaji confirmed that his client wrote a letter of clarification regarding the incident of beating by Bahar bin Smith from Class IIA Gunung Sindur Prison.

In the clarification letter, Ryan Jombang denied that Bahar had a debt to him but did not want to pay it. He even admitted that he made a mistake because he stole the speaker’s money.

“Yes, the letter is correct,” Kasman said when confirmed, Thursday (26/8).

However, Kasman did not comment further on the information about the theft of the money when further questioned.

From the letter received CNNIndonesia.com, it is written that there are five points in the statement submitted by the death row convict. The letter was signed on August 19 on a stamp duty of Rp. 10,000.

The first point of the letter, he denied that Bahar had a debt of Rp. 10 million against him. Then, he also said that the problem of beatings had been resolved amicably and known to the prison.

“The truth is that I made a mistake and took Habib Bahar’s money to trigger this problem,” Ryan wrote in the letter.

Later, he stated that both parties had forgiven each other and stated that he would not take the matter to court.

This statement refutes the statement from the lawyer who has been vocal in defending Kasman from outside the prison. Previously, the lawyer said that Bahar borrowed Rp10 million but did not pay it.

This then triggered the beating that the preacher did to his client. This statement, the lawyer said, was to refute the initial statement from the prison which stated that Ryan Jombang had stolen the money.

The beating occurred on Monday (16/8). However, the Directorate General of PAS at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights claimed that the matter had been resolved and the two parties had reconciled after the incident.
