These are credit cards that ING sent to customers between 1 March and 20 April. According to a spokesperson for the bank, some of the cards did not work in payment and ATM machines because of a defect in the chip of the cards. “As a precaution, we have therefore decided to replace all the cards sent out during this period,” he says.
A total of 96,000 credit cards had to be exchanged, ING confirms. Customers were personally informed by ING about the problem. All problem passes have now been replaced, ING said.
