Missouri: 2 charged with murder in home blast

Two men have been charged with murder after a home explosion near St. Louis that authorities say killed four people who were making fireworks in a garage.

Terrell Cooks, 37, and Seneca Mahan, 43, made fireworks and taught young men how to load the cylinders and attach fuses to them at home in Black Jack, according to authorities.

The police added that the defendants also sold the products. Neither Cooks nor Mahan had a license to make or sell the rockets.

The blast killed four people: Travell Eason, 16; Christopher Jones, 17; Damario Cooks, 18, and William Jones, 21. Two other people remain hospitalized with serious injuries.

Cooks and Martin are being held on $350,000 bond. It is unclear if they have attorneys who can speak on their behalf.

According to court documents, Cooks admitted that he and Mahan made explosives capable of causing bangs and flashes. Investigators saw Cooks carrying boxes of explosives-making chemicals to his vehicle following Friday’s blast, as well as a large number of “completed explosive weapons and their components” when they searched a home and other vehicles linked to Cooks.
