In the midst of so much noise, screaming, discord, clashes, toxic public figures … I am lucky to meet anonymous people that make your quiet life a example of delivery, service, donation, friendship, effort.
Watching and listening to egocentric leaders, concerned only with his and his own, I am fortunate to meet people who live only for and for the poorest.
Distressed to see the famous little ones who succeed in some television network, I discover that there are men and women whose only fame is their quiet and dedicated work towards the most disadvantaged of our land.
Saddened by the climate of division that reigns in our society, I value every time people who bet on dialogue, what unites us, helping those who are experiencing the worst, unity among the various organizations to build a better world.
Surprised by the use that some and others want to make of justice, I increasingly support those who defend a universal, independent, equitable, fair justice …
Annoyed by those who only know how to interpret reality from their ideology, I am left with people who discover that the other is first of all a person, who needs attention, listens, whatever their race, ideology or belief …
In front of characters who only live for themselves and their loved ones, today I want to remember in this comment our missionaries, this weekend we celebrate the DOMUND. Men and women who have decided to dedicate their entire lives to the service of the poorest and most needy.
Simplicity, humility, dedication, donation … words that are part of the costume of these people, who “leave their land” to “dis-possess” themselves, so that others “appropriate” their life and their capacities.
Missionaries do not use the “I”. They pray to God from “us”. There are no “they” or different. They are messengers of Life. They insist on building, on paving, on being the hope of the most peripheral, forgotten and unknown peoples.
The missionaries are in the middle of the people, with the people, comforting, relieving, with the apron of service always incorporated. They are transmitters of the forgiveness of the merciful God.
My memory for so many colleagues who have decided to leave our lands in Palencia to serve and work with the most disadvantaged. They have left the warmth of their houses to live in the open. Many of them strive to build a better society, where people come first. They build churches with open doors. Communities with one hand holding God and the other holding people.
Some of our missionaries have given their lives to denounce the injustices in which millions of human beings live, near and far from us. All of them have been generators of a new world. In this pandemic, they have not abandoned ship and are still at the foot of the canyon, helping and looking for development projects so that the poorest can get ahead.
Thanks for the delivery, thanks for the help, thanks for the service; thank you, thank you!
You are the antithesis of sour characters who triumph in our world.
