The cultural life and the importance of the metropolis in the history of music are an exciting chapter. In 1922 the first country record was recorded in New York City, the Apollo Theater is a place of worship for lovers of black music and it is not without good reason that “The Big Apple” is celebrated as the world capital of jazz. Benny Goodman made jazz socially acceptable in 1938 with his now legendary concert at Carnegie Hall.

Lovers of classical music will find the Metropolitan Opera in New York, one of the world’s leading opera houses, and on Broadway there are over 40 major theaters. If these addresses seem too pompous to you – there is also music in the open air in Central Park. Numerous performances of different directions are available and the atmosphere that can be created is impressively demonstrated, for example, by the concert by Simon & Garfunkel, which took place there in 1981 in front of half a million spectators.
