Context :

Following an exploratory mission concerning the medical and social care of Unaccompanied Minors in Marseille in 2020, MSF noted major failures in the systems. A multidisciplinary accommodation and care program for unaccompanied minors has therefore been set up with the aim of assisting these vulnerable young people in their legal and social procedures and more generally to limit the loss of opportunity that the failures of the authorities imply for these young people. competent authorities.

Main Mission:

Under the responsibility of the accommodation manager, within a multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with partner collectives and volunteers, you are responsible for the supervision and support of young people placed in shelter in the MSF accommodation system in order to facilitate educational, medical, psychological, social and recreational care.

The social worker also contributes to the consolidation of the system, participates in spaces for reflection and implementation concerning the organization of accommodation and the care of young people.

Responsibilities:

Welcome, accompany, protect, animate :

• Ensure the admission and reception of young people in the accommodation system.

• Guarantee understanding and respect for the framework and rules of life.

• Ensure proper compliance with the security rules defined within the accommodation center to guarantee the safety of all young people accommodated.

• Ensure support for each young person while respecting their uniqueness and needs. Ensure individualized follow-up (interviews, writing of personal projects), and support of the young person in administrative, medical, educational and professional integration procedures.

• Involve the young people accommodated in the organization of daily life and related tasks. Promote cooperation between young people.

• Encourage the empowerment of young people accommodated, and support their integration into society. Strengthen the capacity of young people accommodated to seek external resources.

• Organize collective life and lead collective life meetings

• Participate in the management of accommodation (stocks, consumption and orders of materials, shopping, etc.).

• Guarantee that accommodation is kept in good working order and cleanliness by involving young people.

Orient towards common law and solidarity networks :

• Raise awareness among young people in accommodation about their rights and the different networks and services they can request. Allow access to clear, individual and collective information.

• Support young people towards common law systems (social, legal, health, education)

• Facilitate the appointments necessary for medical, psychological, social, educational and legal follow-up with institutional and associative partners.

• Guarantee good coordination with associative, institutional and voluntary actors involved with young people in accommodation.

• Guarantee anticipation of the end of residential care (end of appeal to the judge, access to majority, ASE care) by supporting young people in carrying out the necessary steps to access common law systems adapted (different depending on whether ASE placement is obtained or not).

Take part in team life contribute to advocacy :

• Collect data in the interest of individual monitoring, as well as advocacy at the national level common to MSF MNA projects in France.

• Contributes to the writing of reports and capitalization of the program.

• Report to the accommodation manager on their activity, including any participation in a meeting or external activity.

• Report any problem related to the safety, physical and mental health of young people and colleagues.

• Participate in team and individual meetings, and participate in multidisciplinary work

• Produce, as a team or individually if justified, any educational support necessary for their work.

• Guarantee the maintenance of the confidentiality of all information relating to the young person

• Take care of the installations, materials and equipment at its disposal, in particular to ensure their durability.

Experiences / Training

Diploma in social work required (ES, AS, ME, CESF)

Experience :

  • Minimum two years in a similar position required.
  • Experience in the sectors of child protection, unaccompanied minors (UMAs), migration, or supporting young people on their migratory journey is a plus.

LANGUAGES :

French required. English desirable. Knowledge of a West African language is a plus.

Salary

Status and schedules:

Fixed-term contract (CDD) 12 months, renewable.

Conditions :

€2,707.86 gross monthly over 13 months. 22 days of RTT per year. Supplementary health care 100% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières. Restaurant vouchers with a face value of €11.00 (60% covered by MSF). 50% coverage of public transport fare or equivalent.

Position to be filled: early January 2025.
