There was a lot of debate last year why Novak Djokovic wasn’t allowed to compete at the Australian Open. He now he has to attend major tournaments in the United States.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has reacted calmly to the news that he will most likely miss the March ATP tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami due to his refusal to get vaccinated.

“Well, if it’s official, then so be it. I mean, what can I do? Nothing. That’s it. You know my attitude. It is what it is,” said the 21-time Grand Slam winner after reaching the quarterfinals finals of the ATP tournament in Adelaide with a hard-fought 7: 6 (7: 3), 7: 6 (7: 5) against Frenchman Quentin Halys to reporters.

Unlike Australia, where Djokovic is currently allowed to compete in Adelaide a year after his expulsion and again at the Australia Open from January 16, full corona virus vaccination is still an entry requirement for the US. With the recent extension of this requirement for foreign nationals until April 10, Djokovic would not be allowed to enter the United States without vaccination for the Indian Wells (from March 6) and Miami (from March 20) tournaments.

He still hopes to start, “but if I can’t go, then I can’t,” said the Serbian, who was unable to compete at Indian Wells and Miami last year and at the US Open in New York due to his refusal to vaccinate.
