Missing Truck Driver Allegedly Shot by KKB in Puncak Papua, Police Conduct Search

JAYAPURA, KOMPAS.com – Kapolda Papua Inspector General Mathius D Fakiri said there had been a shooting by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) the alleged victim is Nober Palintin, in Kali Ilame, Wako Village, Gome District, Puncak Regency, Papua, Wednesday (11/5/2022) afternoon.

At the time of the incident, Nober Palintin, who works as a truck driver, was picking up sand material at Kali Ilame.

According to Fakiri, the shooting was discovered after the security forces heard several gunshots.

“At 10.30 WIT, two shots were heard, then five rounds of gunshots were heard from the direction of Kali Ilame,” Fakiri said via text message, Wednesday.

The joint security forces then headed to the source of the sound but only found the truck that Nober Palintin was carrying.

“The team then conducted a search around the truck up to a radius of 500 meters but found no signs of the victim’s presence,” he said.

Because it was raining during the day, the joint security forces stopped the search process and returned to the Ilaga District at around 2:55 p.m. WIT.

Until now, Fakiri has not been able to confirm the condition of the victim.

The personnel will return to look for victims tomorrow, Thursday (12/5/2022).
