The woman alerted the emergency call, but when the emergency services arrived, the surfer had already disappeared from her field of vision. Nine boats from Austria and Bavaria and a search party of several hundred people were on the shore, a police helicopter with a thermal imaging camera was also looking for the man.
Completely hypothermic and found exhausted
In the morning, shortly before half past one, the missing surfer could be found ashore, he was hypothermic and exhausted. Because his sports equipment was broken, he saved himself on land without it, but was no longer able to draw attention to himself. The man was taken to the hospital.
