(ANSA) – MILAN, AUGUST 25 – Caterina Bardelli, the 89-year-old woman who disappeared on Wednesday when she went mushroom hunting in the woods of Passo della Forcora, in the territory of Maccagno con Pino and Veddasca (Varese), has been found alive. After 4 days of searching with dogs and drones, rescuers tracked her down in a remote area and immediately took her to the hospital. The woman, a resident of Malnate (Varese), had gone with her 57-year-old son to look for mushrooms on Wednesday afternoon but at a certain point the man lost sight of her and returned alone, immediately raising the alarm. The search then began, involving firefighters, civil protection, volunteers, as well as Sapr (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) personnel who used high-tech drones and the Dog Unit who used dogs trained to search for missing people. After four nights spent in the woods, “the woman was found alive and rescued by one of the search teams – the firefighters explain – The support of the health personnel was immediately requested and she was then entrusted to them for the necessary care”.
