An eight-year-old German girl who went missing since sunday in a Czech forest has been found again. This was reported by the Czech police on Twitter.
The child was found in Ceská Kubice, a municipality along the border with Germany. Rescue workers involved in the search found her.
The girl from Berlin is now receiving medical care, police say. “She is alive, is hypothermic and has been taken to hospital,” said a spokesman for the German police. The child would not be in mortal danger.
Hundreds of rescue workers
The girl’s parents took their children for a walk on Sunday through the Bohemian Forest, which borders the Bavarian Forest. The parents lost sight of their daughter, son and nephew when they went to play in the woods.
Rescuers found the six-year-old son and nine-year-old nephew before dark on Sunday evening. The girl remained without a trace.
More than 1,400 rescue workers from the Czech Republic and Germany searched for the girl. 115 sniffer dogs and a helicopter were also deployed.
