Kidnapped children found in US supermarket

Almost a year ago, eleven-year-old Brooke G. and her brother were kidnapped from a Missouri suburb. With wanted posters and calls for witnesses, the police are investigating at full speed. Now they can finally breathe a sigh of relief: Officials find the missing person in Florida – accompanied by their birth mother.

The search for two Missouri children who were kidnapped almost a year ago has come to an end. According to police, 11-year-old Brooke G. and her 12-year-old brother Adrian G. were found in a Florida branch of the Winn-Dixie supermarket chain. There they went shopping with their non-custodial biological mother, Kristi G. Florida is about 2,000 kilometers from her hometown, Clay County, Missouri.

The children had been missing since March 15, 2022. Using descriptions of the children and posters, investigators searched for them and their birth mother. As can be seen from the wanted posters, she was soon the focus of the authorities as a suspect. There was already an arrest warrant from Missouri for kidnapping against the 36-year-old.

The Florida officials first became aware of the woman when they carried out a routine vehicle check on her. After checking her license plate number, the police not only found that Kristi G. is the children’s biological mother, but also that she is wanted and is on the run.

“Officials spotted the trio shopping in Winn-Dixie,” High Springs, Florida police wrote on Facebook. The mother tried to disguise the identity of the siblings by disguising them, as the US site “The Sun” reported. The officials were finally able to find Kristi G. and the two missing children.

The children’s biological mother was then arrested and is now in prison, according to US media. Brooke G. and Adrian G. were first turned over to the Florida Department of Children and Family, the local police department said. Both children are doing well and will soon be reunited with their family members who have custody. Who it is is just as little known as the reason for the withdrawal of custody of the birth mother. So far, the police have not commented on the circumstances of the kidnapping from almost a year ago.
