Missing Dog ‘Panda’ Stolen From Central Park Found Safe on Upper East Side, Manhattan

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) – A dog believed to have been stolen from Central Park has been found.

On Sunday night, a woman saw a ‘Panda’ on East 62nd Street. The nine-year-old Shih Tzu was taken to the vet and is now back with her family.

The woman who found that dog says she wants to remain anonymous.

Panda’s owners say they plan to reward her with $5,000.

Panda went missing just off Fifth Avenue and East 59th Street around 4:30 pm Wednesday.

Nanny Jonahlyn Guinto, was with Davidson’s two children. When it was time to go, she turned her back for just a few minutes – Panda was off the leash and gone.

“I go around the circle, off the grass and I didn’t see him, that person told me that someone stole the dog,” she said.

The stranger saw a man taking Panda, who is micro-chipped.

Davidson filed a police report. The family desperately wants their dog back. They are offering a $5,000 reward, no questions asked.

“Please give him lots of love and hugs and tell him we’re waiting for him,” Davidson said.

The family went back to Central Park every day to look for their dog. Davidson and Panda have been inseparable since day one.

The dog was a wonderful gift from her husband because the couple was going through a difficult time.

“Many years ago, we tried to have children, but we never had any luck. We always miscarried, so we got Panda,” said Davidson.

She says that she considers Panda as her firstborn.
