The 14-year-old from Gottenheim in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district had been missing since July 21. Her body was found on Friday almost 300 kilometers from her home town in a lake in the Wetteraukreis in Hesse. The investigators initially did not confirm media reports that the girl was the victim of a violent crime.
In the home of the student and at the distant place of discovery in Hesse, sadness and horror prevail. “The worst that can happen in such a case has happened. The whole of Gottenheim is in shock,” said Mayor Christian Riesterer.

Update from Sunday, July 31, 4:25 p.m.: Almost 300 kilometers from home, police find the body of a 14-year-old girl in a lake. She had previously been missing since July 21. It is still unclear why Ayleen A. from Gottenheim (Baden-Württemberg) had to die. Investigators are reluctant to share information with the public. “We ask for your understanding that we cannot provide any information beyond the previous press release,” said a police spokesman on Sunday (July 31) in Freiburg.

On Saturday a body was found in the Hessian Wetteraukreis (see initial report). In the evening, the police in Freiburg confirmed that it was the 14-year-old. That was the result of a forensic examination, it said.
The girl had been missing since July 21, and the police had been searching for her at full speed. The investigating authorities want to comment on further details of the case on Monday (August 1). under the phone number 0761 / 8822888 notices can be given.
Wetteraukreis in Hesse: body found
First report from Saturday, July 30, 4:30 p.m.: Gottenheim/Freiburg – After a female body was found in the Wetteraukreis in Hesse, the police are investigating a possible connection to a missing 14-year-old girl from Gottenheim (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). A forensic examination of the body found on Friday should clarify the identity and cause of death of the person found, said a police spokesman in Freiburg on Saturday. Since July 21, the police have been looking for the 14-year-old with high pressure. The teenager left her parents’ house in Gottenheim around 6 p.m. and has been missing ever since.
