Iran denied the allegations and accused Trump of using such threats to distract from his election defeat. “Endangering one’s own citizens abroad will not draw attention to catastrophic failures at home,” tweeted Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Sarif on Thursday. The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks on Monday and denied any involvement. The US’s allegations against Tehran only intend to exacerbate tensions before the change of power in Washington and are therefore irresponsible, according to the State Department in Tehran.
