Jakarta –
A massive fire was reported in a oil refinery in Saudi city, Jeddah. Yemen’s Houthi rebels admit that they have launched a series of attacks against the kingdom.
Reporting from Al Jazeera, Saturday (26/3/2022), reported a series of drone and rocket attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group. Plumes of black smoke were seen rising in Jeddah. To note, Jeddah will host the Formula One race tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and state-run Saudi Aramco did not acknowledge the fire. The fire centered on the same refinery that the Houthis attacked in recent days.
Meanwhile, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group attacked Aramco facilities with missiles and the Ras Tanura and Rabigh refineries with drones.
Sarea added that the attack also targeted vital facilities in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The attack targeted “Aramco facilities in Jeddah and vital facilities in the capital of the Saudi enemy, Riyadh,” Saree tweeted.
Oil giant Aramco’s facilities were also attacked in Jizan, Najran, Ras Tanura and Rabigh with “a large number of drones”, he added.
Al Arabiya TV, citing the coalition, said the kingdom’s air defense systems destroyed two explosive-laden drones that targeted Najran.
Those on the F1 track could see a huge cloud of black smoke in the distance.
“The position at this time is that we await further information from the authorities on what has happened,” F1 said in a statement.
