Personnel shortage at Gottenheim and SFE – also because of the DFB Cup.
(scj/BZ). In the football district league, two games scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled. Both SV Gottenheim, who were supposed to play against FC Heitersheim, and Sportfreunde Eintracht (SFE) Freiburg, who were supposed to be guests at FC Wolfenweiler-Schallstadt, justify their non-attendance with massive personnel problems. SVG Chairman Bjrn Streicher cites many injured people, players with long-term Covid-related symptoms and players who want to watch the DFB Cup final between SC Freiburg and RB Leipzig on site in Berlin.
SFE coach Wolf Haller only has three field players and a goalkeeper from the first team. It doesn’t look any better in the second and the A-Juniors. The injury situation was precarious for the whole lap. Now the DFB Cup final is added. “It’s a one-time thing,” said Haller, “we didn’t want to deny any player that.” A catch-up date could not be found in either case, the season ends on June 11th. Both games will probably be rated 3:0 for the respective opponent.
