For days it has been rumored that Lupita Jones will no longer be the director of Mexicana Universal, a position she had held for 20 years. Rumors indicated that it had even already been chosen who would head the organization, but it has not been made official.

Finally, Lupita gave her first statements to a Chisme No Like reporter. At first, she did not want to talk about it, she even tried to avoid giving great details, but she confirmed the rumors.

In the short statements given by the former Miss Universe, she mentioned that the organization would be saying whether she will continue as director, but for now no resolution has been reached.

“Well, it’s not news, Miss Universe has not defined anything. Miss Universe is the one who has to break the news and I have no idea,” Lupita said, evading the questions.

When asked what she thinks about Cynthia de la Vega taking her position, she responded: “I don’t have the slightest idea.”

Cynthia Duque was Universal Mexican in 2012 and failed to reach the Miss Universe semi-final. Her participation in the contest was highly questioned on social networks since they assured that she would not have the desired figure.

In some interviews she confessed that she did not have the support she wanted from the organization, something that led her to doubt her ability to represent Mexico as the most beautiful woman in the country.

This impacted her performance in the contest since they took away her nutritionist and gave her a diet that made her gain weight and be criticized.

On the other hand, Cynthia de la Vega, who was Nuestra Belleza México in 2010, had a similar story with Lupita Jones, but she directly accused the director of having kicked her out of the organization for having gained weight.

In 2011, Cynthia was supposed to represent Mexico in Miss World, but months before they announced that another young woman would take her place due to De la Vega’s failure to comply with the agreed obligations.

For her part, the model denied the accusations and assured that Lupita Jones had mistreated and threatened her to remove her from the organization.

According to Cynthia, the reason Lupita may have treated her badly was because she was positioning herself to win Miss World and Lupita, being the first Miss Universe, did not want to compete with another woman for her leadership in the world of beauty.
