Miss Universe 2022 fell to Miss USA, R’Bonney Gabriel. Gabriel was asked to become the new Miss Universe in the top night which was held in New Orleans, Saturday (14/1) evening local time.
Meanwhile the first runner up went to Miss Venezuela, Amanda Dudamel, and the second runner up went to Miss Dominican Republic, Andreína Martínez.
Prior to this announcement, the three of them answered the final questions in the 71st Miss Universe final night. In the Top 3 round the three were asked what they would do as Miss Universe for progressive women’s empowerment.
Miss Dominican Republic, Andreína Martínez said that she would be an ambassador to convey messages about women’s rights, considering that she had been involved in this for a long time.
“And I continue to do it every day, and I will tell you that no matter where you come from, your background does not define you, your courage and your determination, and I will show that every day,” said Martínez.
Then Miss USA, R’Bonney Gabriel, said she reflected on the duties of Miss Universe in her work as a fashion designer for the last 13 years.
“I use fashion as a force for good, in my industry we reduce pollution by using recycled materials, and advocating for women survivors human traffickingdomestic violence,” said Gabriel.
“Use our unique talents to make a difference, we all have something special to make a difference. We have something special and we use it for other people in our lives, and tools of change,” he continued.
While Miss Venezuela, Amanda Dudamel said she will “continue the legacy that women have shown all over the world.”
“Miss Universe has shown they choose women who inspire their messages and transform them into their actions,” said Dudamel.
“That’s what I want to do, I have a profession as a fashion designer, but as a woman I am a designer of dreams.” he continued.
As many as 84 contestants from various countries competed for the crown given by Miss Universe 2021, Harnaaz Sandhu.
Meanwhile, Indonesia sent its representative, namely Puteri Indonesia 2022, Laksmi De Neefe.
However, Laksmi stopped her steps after failing to enter the Top 16, which consisted of the US, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Haiti, Peru, Laos, Trinidad and Tobago, Portugal, South Africa, India, Curacao, Puerto Rico and Spain. .
