Lesley Cheam or Lesley Cham Wei Yeng has just been crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2022. The 26-year-old woman managed to beat 12 contestants in the final of the beauty event which was held on October 7th. Sadly, just a few days after he was crowned, her victory became controversial after he was caught taking an indecent photo.
Lesley Cheam is a beautiful and accomplished woman who has been crowned Miss Malaysia. The 166 cm tall woman graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences. In addition to being chosen as the champion, the woman who likes to play basketball and musical instruments also took home the titles of Miss Radiant Confident and Miss Schwarzkopf Most Beautiful Hair.
Unfortunately, the victory of Lesley, who works in the field of product marketing, turned into a controversy and he was even asked to resign. Malaysian netizens have filed a petition to refuse her participation in international events representing their country. This is because a video circulating shows Lesley posing with a souvenir in the shape of male genitalia.

Lesley’s old video went viral and caused criticism. A number of network users have also written harsh comments on Miss Universe Malaysia’s Instagram account. Some people against it even call it “bad attitude” and even “Miss Dildo”. In a post uploaded by Queen of Malaysia, she is seen playing with a dildo-like bottle cap considered indecent. The video is said to be an Insta Story taken before attending a beauty event.
In a petition posted on Change.org, the Malaysian organization Pageant Lovers asked netizens to support Ajunee Kaur, who was the first runner-up to replace Lesley in the upcoming Miss Universe 2022 event in the United States. In their statement, they considered Ajunee the winner, although they did not mention the controversy involving Lesley.

“The position was taken from him. He finished second and the Malaysian Pageant Lovers were shocked by the decision. We want the organization to hear the voice of the Malaysian Pageant Lovers because we think Ajunee is the real winner.”
“Looking at the overall result she is a wise girl. She won the hearts of Malaysians and deserves to represent Malaysia,” wrote the netizen who signed the Malaysian Pegeant Lover Wants Ajunee Kaur petition as Miss Universe Malaysia 2022.
The petition itself targets 1,000 Malaysians to sign it and has already garnered more than 800 votes. Even so, the national director of the Miss Universe Malaysia organization, Elaine Daly, has not reversed the decision, so Lesley will continue to run as Miss Universe Malaysia 2022.
