Diane Leyre: It was disheartening to see the hateful comments directed at Angélique. For some reason, age seems to be a focal point for criticism when it comes to beauty pageants. It’s frustrating. Angélique is accomplished, stunning, and kind, and I think her age only adds to her unique story.
WTN Editor: You’ve been very vocal in defending Angélique online. have you experienced any personal backlash for speaking out against the negativity?
Diane Leyre: Yes, there has been some, but I refuse to be silenced. It’s important for me to use my platform to stand up for what I believe in, especially when it comes to defending others from unwarranted attacks. Cyberbullying is a serious issue, and we need to call it out when we see it.
WTN Editor: Shifting gears a bit, your New Year’s Eve seemed to take an unexpected turn.
Diane Leyre: laughs You could say that! Let’s just say, cupboards are not my friends.

Diane Leyre: Well, I managed to give myself a nice little bump on the forehead. Nothing major, but it certainly added some humour to the evening. I guess the moral of the story is to be careful in the kitchen,especially when celebrations are underway.

Diane Leyre: Absolutely. Social media can be a splendid tool for connection, but it also creates a lot of pressure to present a flawless image. I think it’s important to remember that we’re all human, and we all have our imperfections. I try to show the real me on social media, the good and the bad, because reality is so much more interesting than perfection.
