“MishMash is not only a combination of our names – Misha and Masha, but also describes in one word what we dedicate our artistic practice to. The themes of our art are chaos and order, collections of insignificant things, transfer of data into abstraction, inventArt, forest actionism, reality prosthesis, compulsive counting and observation. Wars, violence, discrimination, hatred – they are always present. That’s why we don’t depict everyday events in our art, we try to focus on the natural essence of a person,” the duo of artists describe their creative practice.
At the exhibition Akmensrockstein includes three creative projects. In the series Rock artists, characteristic of themselves, focus on turning personal experience and data into abstraction. It consists of 180 stone illustrations. Each of them is dated with a time stamp. Ninety of the depicted stones are arranged on a paper panel and symbolize the period of the European Union residence permit received. On the other hand, the remaining ninety, which can be viewed without a base, depict the suspended visa waiting days.
Series Rock was made during the forced separation of the two. Misha found a stone on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, gave it a name and a textual description, while Masha created a portrait of the stone based on this verbal description. The exhibition will also feature an installation Steinwhich artists succinctly call a representation of world order.
