PDI-P chairman Megawati Sukarnoputri delivered President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) it’s a pity if there is no PDIP during the speech at the 50th Anniversary of the PDIP. Chairman of the DPP PDIP Said Abdullah explained the context of Megawati’s speech.
Said said Megawati’s statement was delivered at an event aimed at internal PDIP. In addition, he said Megawati actually wanted to convey that Jokowi was also a cadre from the PDI-P who was supported as president.
“Bu Mega’s speech at the 50th anniversary of the PDI Perjuangan is an internal event. The joint reflection on the journey of the PDI Perjuangan and its struggle as a party with a nationalist ideology. Mrs. Mega’s statement regarding Pak Jokowi will not become president if not nominated by the PDI Perjuangan is a form of reflection that all PDI Perjuangan cadres ,” said Said when contacted, Friday (13/1/2023).
Said said that procedurally, Megawati was right in saying that Jokowi would not be able to become president without the PDIP. According to him, Jokowi would not even be able to run as a presidential candidate if he was not supported by the PDIP.
“Indeed, we have to admit, the requirement for the presidential nomination is a political party ticket. So if we interpret Bu Mega’s statement procedurally it is true. It was because of the nomination ticket from the PDI Perjuangan that Pak Jokowi met the requirements to become a presidential candidate. If the nomination requirements were not met, of course he would not would possibly become a presidential candidate. If even being a legitimate presidential candidate fails, let alone becoming president. Isn’t that the constitutional logic?” he explained.

However, Said did not focus on Megawati’s statement on the legal-formal issue of presidential candidacy. Furthermore, he said that all cadres PDIP who currently hold public office is the result of the PDIP’s mutual cooperation.
“There is a big role for PDI Perjuangan for every cadre who holds public positions at all levels, both at the executive and legislative levels. And this is the result of the mutual cooperation of all party officials. Mrs. Mega’s central message is to remind all cadres, including the President Joko Widodo to always adhere to the principle of mutual cooperation. This is the point of Mrs Mega’s statement,” he stressed.
For this reason, he considered it misguided and wrong if Megawati’s statement to Jokowi was deemed to demean Jokowi’s dignity as president. Megawati, he said, actually praised Jokowi’s performance during his time as president.
“So don’t cut it into pieces, let alone outsiders joining in the baper, because this is not directed at anyone. Moreover, outsiders interpret this as condescending to President Jokowi, it is wrong and it is a misguided thought because they do not fully understand Bu Mega’s statement and the context of her speech which is for the party’s internal And Mrs. Mega also praised President Jokowi’s performance in his speech. Why wasn’t this discussed?” he said.
