Misconduct among Amsterdam student corps: extreme humiliation, kicking, beating up

According to the letter, both boys and girls would be guilty of this.

‘Extremely humiliating’

“In our view, there is a lot wrong with a number of boys, especially girls, who see it as normal that extreme humiliation, kicking and beating should be part of the short green time.”

On Friday it was announced that the student body immediately stopped the fraternity meeting time, because the board had received reports of misconduct during the hazing. A spokesperson did not say what exactly had happened, but it would be “completely unacceptable.”

The letter from the reunions states about this: “The (green) boards of the disputes of which it is clear that misconduct is at stake, are very adept at completely distorting facts towards the Senate and their own reunions. denied, it is made small, even when injury is visible and the zero-years declare that violence has taken place.”

Student Association

The association will celebrate its 170th anniversary in July 2022, the reunions write, but ‘there is no reason for a celebration if the desired and apparently necessary cultural change does not take place’.

The Amsterdamsch Studenten Corps and the Amsterdamsche Vrouwen Studenten Vereeniging (ASC/AVSV) are, according to their own site, the largest student association in the Netherlands with more than 2700 active members.
