Proposed removal of PPnBM for people’s car appear. The Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang proposed this to the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
Even so, Sri Mulyani emphasized that until now the government has not decided anything about the discourse. In fact, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested that the discourse be reviewed.
Sri Mulyani said that one of the things to consider is demand from the automotive industry, whether it has increased or is still weak.
“We haven’t decided on the PPnBM for cars yet. The President and I asked to review it again, especially whether it’s related to whether demandhas it improved pretty well? We can see that manufacturing and trade are starting to move strongly,” Sri Mulyani told reporters at the Radius Prawiro Building, Ministry of Finance, Central Jakarta, Friday (12/31/2021).
What is clear, Sri Mulyani stated that the government will be more selective in providing tax incentives. Could be a PPnBM incentive for people’s car not given when the community’s request has recovered. He emphasized that so far the tax incentives for the automotive sector could not be decided.
“We will be selective in using the instrument. For the automotive one, it has not been decided,” said Sri Mulyani.
On the other hand, Sri Mulyani emphasized that the tax incentives for housing have been approved to continue. This is because demand in the housing sector has not recovered.
“What the President has decided yesterday is for housing, because the construction sector has not increased. It is still lagging behind,” said Sri Mulyani.
