Miscellaneous – Justice | Strasbourg: a police officer wants to file a complaint against the police for racism

Haykal Rezgui Raouaji has 16 years of police career behind him. Stationed in Strasbourg for two years, the 37-year-old police officer wants to file a complaint against the national police. A first. He denounces racist insults, discrimination and moral harassment he suffers within his own brigade, reports France Blue Alsace.

His lawyer should soon file the case.

Nice, Nîmes, Vannes, Île-de-France … He passed through many French cities during his changes. And in Strasbourg, he feels upon his arrival that he is not welcome: “It was always little jokes, when I arrived they spoke Alsatian, we make you feel that you are not in the group”, he testifies to our colleagues.

He fell into depression in August 2019, for nine months. In October of the same year, he made a report to the Departmental Directorate of Public Security. The General Inspectorate of the National Police took up the case, but it was dismissed last March. “I was told that there was not enough evidence to prove racism … There, I almost fell into tears,” explains Haykal Rezgui Raouaji.

Haykal Rezgui Raouaji now wants to be transferred to Toulouse, in his hometown.
