Miscellaneous – Justice | Recidivist rapist sentenced to six months for sexual assault

Twice sentenced to assizes for rape in the 80s and 90s, Solleman, 60 years old and drunk, put his hand on the buttocks of a student who was returning home at the end of July in the suburbs of Nancy. Presented for immediate appearance on July 29, two days after the facts, Solleman saw the criminal court postpone his trial. It took place on Wednesday.

In the meantime, he waited behind bars, as the prosecutor’s office requested and obtained the warrant against him. The prosecutor then said there was a “very high risk of recidivism”. Because the man in front of him, prosecuted for “drunken sexual assault,” was not up to the task: he was convicted of indecent assault in 1982, but also and above all, twice, at the assizes for rapes. Solleman was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Var in 1984 and 20 years in 1993 in the Côtes-d’Armor.

Wednesday in court, he put forward excessive alcohol consumption to explain his gesture of July 27. He was showing 0.68 mg / l of exhaled air when he reached into the buttocks of the 23-year-old student in Laxou.

Released from prison in 2007

He was arrested in the minutes that followed, the victim’s companion immediately giving the alert. The prosecutor required 30 months firm, with continued detention, as well as a socio-judicial follow-up for a period of 2 years. “He was released from prison in 2007 and, since that date, nothing has happened”, underlined Me Émilie Fristch, his lawyer, who wanted a probationary stay (SP), with care. She was heard but could not avoid a firm part, with continued detention, to her client: 18 months including 12 with SP.
