“The victim suffers from very significant injuries to the lower limbs, his vital prognosis is engaged,” said the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) of Bouches-du-Rhône.
Motorist crushes one of the dogs, the second shot dead
The scene took place in the Entressen district in the middle of the morning, around 10:30 am. A motorist who attended deliberately ran over one of the three dogs, to save the jogger. A team from the Istres police station then arrived and shot the second dog.
The third animal, which had fled and had taken refuge in the home from which it had escaped with the two others, was taken in charge by the municipal pound of Istres. “He will probably be euthanized,” said the DDSP.
The owner arrested
The owner of the three dogs was arrested and taken into police custody. Only two of the three animals were in compliance with the law, according to the DDSP. One of the dogs had not been sterilized and had not been subjected to a behavioral analysis.
