A tourist plane was forced to land in a field south of Thionville on Saturday, September 5, in the middle of the morning. An emergency landing due to a mechanical failure. The pilot had taken advantage of the presence of an immense farmland mown up close, with fairly flat relief, to land.
The machine had left from Findel airport, in Luxembourg, and was to reach Saint-Dizier. Three men were on board, the pilot, the co-pilot and a passenger, all unharmed. The landing had taken place in the town of Bousse, along the D1 departmental road.
This Thursday, at the beginning of the afternoon, a specialized company from Findel proceeded to dismantle the fuselage of the aircraft. Initially, the cabin was installed on the trailer of a transport vehicle, the wings remaining on the ground. A second trip will be necessary to take them away.
According to the mechanic in charge of the operation, misfires had suggested an engine failure. Anyway, the plane, even repaired on site, could not have taken off again from the field, not suited to this kind of maneuver. Hence its dismantling and transport by land twelve days after the forced landing.
