“It was 10am. We heard a weird noise, like engine misfires above our heads. Looking up, we realized that the craft was in trouble. “
While they were distributing the municipal bulletin this Saturday morning in mailboxes at Clos des Vignes, Sophie Ernst and Julie Weyders witnessed a scene that was to say the least unusual. Under the eyes of these two municipal councilors of Bousse, a tourist plane forced to land in disaster in a field south of Thionville.
A beautiful fear
This emergency landing was explained by a mechanical failure which made the pilot fear the worst. The latter knew how to keep his cool and took advantage of the presence of an immense farmland mown up close, with a fairly flat terrain, to land.
The machine had left from Findel airport, in Luxembourg, and was to reach Saint-Dizier. Three men were on board, including the pilot. The incident was perfectly under control and the occupants got away with nothing but fear.
The landing took place in the town of Bousse, along the D1 departmental road. The gendarmes of the Guénange brigade community were the first to be notified. They were joined by their colleagues from the departmental air transport brigade who interviewed the pilot and passengers on the course of the events.
