A 52-year-old Italian was arrested last Friday in Rumersheim-Le-Haut, near Mulhouse, in southern Alsace, following a European warrant issued by Germany in which he is suspected of having committed 160 rapes and sexual assaults.

Suspected of having raped or sexually abused children of his companions
The man is suspected of having, from 2000 to 2014, raped or sexually abused the children of his companions.
Germany has opened 122 investigations against him relating to 160 acts of rape or sexual assault on minors, according to the National Fugitive Search Brigade (BNRF), specifying that this individual had recently fled Germany to settle in Alsace .
On October 7, the BNRF had been alerted by its German counterparts to the presence of this man in France. On October 10, information on his location was provided to the French who entrusted the investigation to the Strasbourg judicial police. And, on October 16, the Strasbourg Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) arrested him at the home of one of his companions.
Unknown in France, he was imprisoned in Colmar prison pending his surrender to German authorities.
According to the information available to the BNRF, Cosimo Chionna allegedly from November 2000 raped his daughter for ten years. At the same time, he would have done the same with the underage girls of another companion. “He operated in his various family circles.”
