A 32-year-old man presented himself at the Ghisonaccia (Haute-Corse) rescue center on Friday, “wounded by a gun” in the chest, and succumbed to his injuries when he was transferred to hospital.
The man, who lives in Corsica, was known to justice only “for a common law offense that is absolutely not significant,” said Arnaud Viornery, prosecutor of the Republic of Bastia.
The injured man presented to the rescue center at 2:10 p.m. Investigators do not know for the moment where the facts took place.

An investigation for intentional homicide was opened and entrusted to the research section of the Corsican gendarmerie, said the prosecutor.
