On March 31, around 2:30 p.m., an attempted armed robbery occurred in a newsagent on Avenue Eiffel in Dijon. A man, who had entered the business, allegedly asked to have the fund handed over to the co-manager, threatening her with a handgun. The co-manager, who intervened, would then have used a tear gas canister against the perpetrator.
Three shots fired at the manager
The latter, while fleeing, would have fired three shots at the manager, without however injuring him. Quickly, the police property attack group was seized of the investigation. On the spot, the police officers determined that the weapon used must be gas. Then, “a very important neighborhood survey”, according to the staff of the Departmental Directorate of Public Security of Côte-d’Or (DDSP 21), made it possible to trace it back to a Renault Laguna, driven by another man. The reports were then disseminated to the police services. 1is April, during a police check in Dijon, the vehicle was checked. Its driver, identified, a 20-year-old man, was arrested last Tuesday at his home in Marsannay-la-Côte. Placed in custody, he would have declared, on the day of the misdeeds, to have been contacted by a friend to “lead him to a place and wait for him”. Seeing his friend filled with tear gas, the latter then told him that he had been assaulted.
The suspect confused
Several technical exploitations made it possible to trace back to the suspect of the attempted armed robbery. This 20-year-old Dijonnais was arrested Thursday at his home. A search made it possible to find the weapon and the outfit worn during the events, as well as a category B weapon, which he possessed without authorization. Place in police custody and heard, the criminal would have justified the attempted armed robbery by a need for money. If his driver friend was exonerated, the Dijonnais was referred to the Dijon prosecutor’s office for an immediate appearance.
