An investigation entrusted to the police is underway after a rape complaint against a police officer in Roubaix (North).

The accused police officer, seconded for his trade union mandate in the Lille metropolitan area, recognizes an affair but denies any rape and any assault, according to his lawyer. “The investigation entrusted to the IGPN begins,” said the Lille prosecutor’s office.

According to the RTL website, the 35-year-old complainant first came across the police officer at the Fosse aux Chênes police station in Roubaix where she had come to make a statement. The police officer reportedly recovered her number and then wrote her several text messages, until she agreed to receive it at her home, where he allegedly raped her on Tuesday.

According to the policeman’s lawyer, “they met in the premises” of the police station and “it was she who recovered his contact details and came into contact with him”.

“There is a connection, but everything is agreed. We deny that there was anything forced,” said Emmanuel Riglaire, denouncing “nauseating rumors”.

“The man I defend is impatient to wash his honor and bring the material elements that prove the reality of his innocence,” he added.
