A fire broke out in an apartment building located at 11, rue de Hayange, in Uckange, this Wednesday, around 11 a.m. The fire allegedly spread from an apartment on the ground floor. A mother and her two children managed to get out of the apartment in time. The other apartments were not occupied at the time of the disaster.

According to a neighbor, there were no flames, but thick white smoke quickly emitted from the building. Sounds of “explosion” were also reportedly heard. From outside, the walls of the downstairs apartment were visibly black with soot as firefighters continued their efforts to contain the blaze. The accommodation is uninhabitable. The other apartments were less affected.
In order to allow firefighters to intervene, the road has been reduced to one lane. The relief centers of Thionville, Guénange and Florange have been contacted.
