An Eritrean was indicted and imprisoned on Wednesday for the murder of his wife, who fell Monday morning from the building where they lived in Poitiers (Vienne).

“A judicial investigation for spousal homicide was opened today. The defendant was indicted and remanded in custody,” said Cyril Lacombe, public prosecutor in Poitiers.

Fall from the 5th floor

The victim, aged 39 and also of Eritrean nationality, had been found dead after a fall from the fifth floor of the building where she lived with her husband and their three children.

According to the daily The New Republic, this woman was four months pregnant. The man, 42 years old and benefiting from the status of political refugee, would have admitted the facts.

The couple’s three children have been cared for by child welfare services.
