misano –
Francis Bagnaia declared fit to race in MotoGP San Marino 2023 this weekend. The defending champion from Italy escaped the horror accident he suffered at the Catalunya MotoGP last week.
“MotoGP rider number 1 Francesco Bagnaia has been declared fit after undergoing examinations at the Misano medical center,” said the official MotoGP statement, Thursday (7/9).
Bagnaia failed to finish because he experienced a highside on the first lap of the main race which took place at Montmelo, Sunday (3/9). Unfortunately for the racers Ducati said, he fell on the track and was unable to avoid it when Brad Binder came.
His foot was crushed by the wheel of the KTM racer’s motorbike. The race was temporarily suspended. He was then transported by an ambulance and examined further.
It was feared that he would suffer serious injuries, Bagnaia then appeared with a cane and was able to return to Italy and continue his recovery there.
Even though he is declared fit, it is worth waiting for whether Bagnaia can race without pain or not. But he has already shown his determination to go down at Misano, which is his home race.
Bagnaia is currently still at the top of the 2023 MotoGP standings with 260 points, 50 points ahead of Jorge Martin who trails in second place. He has won five races, the most of any of his competitors.
