The cancellation of the Omar Chávez vs Misael Rodríguez fight generated a series of criticisms and divided versions of what happened. The event did not take place due to the weight that the Businessman would have given minutes before the fight, Chino assured that his rival exceeded the established limit, so he refused to fight, according to Julio César Chávez.
The great Mexican champion himself gave his version of what happened and defended his son, even calling Chino Rodríguez’s team a liar. But, after the accusations and criticism against the Olympic medalist, Misael was encouraged to raise his voice to tell his version of the case.
Through social networks, he uploaded a series of videos that compiled everything that was experienced in the locker rooms of the fair event in Pachuca, Hidalgo. They show how Chino and his coach, Robert García, asked that the weight limit for the fight be respected.

Misael Rodríguez assured that he did not lend himself to the “Chávez circus,” and his criticism was that Omar had tried to take advantage of his last name to ignore the rules of the event. The former Olympic athlete accused the son of Julio César Chávez of weighing 86 kg, which would have exceeded the limit that would have been established by the Mexico City Boxing Commission, which would have been in charge of managing the fight and endorsing it for its realization.
The Commission usually carries out a final weigh-in of the boxers minutes before the fight. At this weigh-in, Omar Chávez crossed the limit, which sparked Misael’s disagreement. For this reason, he stated that he was not willing to continue with the event.
On his official Instagram account he published the following message:
“The lady did not want to weigh herself @omarchavezzbu and as always they want to take advantage and take advantage of the last name until they hit a wall. For me the rules are respected and enforced! Then they continue with their farce by uploading a photo where they weigh 82 kilos, then they upload another where according to their weight when in reality I weigh more than 86kg, excuse me for not selling me or lending me to the Chávez circus.”

In his video you can see how Misael insisted on weighing Omar Chávez again. “They made me understand the regulations, I adhered to that and my rival also has to do so. If he does not comply with the rules, the fight does not go,” were the words he expressed.
As can be seen in the images, Omar’s corner and Misael’s corner talked for the event to take place, but the Olympic medalist’s team was firm with its position that the son of Julio César Chávez was not complying with what was agreed.
In one of the videos you can see how staff from the organization of the event, and from Omar Chávez’s team, approached Chino Rodríguez to explain that the commission did not have jurisdiction over the event, so the rules did not apply.
“There is no commission here, I am going to show you a letter from the commission where it has no jurisdiction here,” one can hear.

The legendary Mexican boxer, Julio César Chávez, was quick to express his frustration upon learning of the cancellation. Through his official account on
According to Chávez, the reason alleged by Rodríguez was Omar’s weight, known as the Chávez Earthquake, although the champion defended that his son was at the ideal weight for the fight.
