The British newspaper “Mirror” said that the English club Liverpool will face a nightmare because of the loss of the services of its Egyptian international star, Mohamed Salah, due to his participation in two different championships with his country in the next season 2021/2022.
The newspaper quoted Shawqi Gharib, the coach of the Egypt U-23 team, at a press conference today, Tuesday, in which he reiterated his desire to choose Mohamed Salah to participate with the Olympic team in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
The Egyptian team qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, and the team became entitled to summon three players over the Olympic age during the football competitions that will be held next summer in Japan, after it was postponed for a year due to the Corona virus pandemic.
“Mirror” indicated that with the Olympiad being held from July 23 to August 8 of next year, Salah will be absent from the preparation period for Liverpool in the new season 2021/2022, along with his opening matches in the Premier League.
In addition, Salah, along with Sadio Mane and Nabi Keita, will miss a large part of the matches in the middle of the next season for their participation in the African Nations Cup with the national team of their country, which will be held in January and February 2022 in Cameroon.
It is noteworthy that Mohamed Salah participated in the 2012 London Olympics, and scored three goals to reach the Olympic team to the quarter-finals, and at the level of the first team, the 27-year-old has scored 41 goals in 67 international matches with his country.
