Miroslav Klose has been without a club since March 20th.
At SCR Altach, the ripcord was pulled due to an incessant negative trend, and the World Cup record scorer was released from his duties. Klaus Schmidt is now mimicking the “fireman” in the “Ländle” – Klose is looking for the next opportunity.
The 44-year-old’s only second coaching career station could now be not far from Altach. As reported by “Blick”, Klose is a candidate for coaching at Grashoppers Zurich. Accordingly, the former world-class striker could take over the Swiss first division team for the new season after Giogio Contini splits at the end of the season. Negotiations are already taking place, they say.
In Altach, Klose only managed four victories in 22 Bundesliga games. The 2014 world champion could make a fresh start in Switzerland.
The Grashoppers are currently fifth in the Swiss Super League and are fighting for a place in the European Cup. With ex-Austria manager Thorsten Fink (2018-2019) and ex-Rapid coach Goran Djuricin (2020), the traditional club already had two former Bundesliga coaches on the sidelines.
