Salzgitter. Last Saturday the Malteser’s Heart’s Desire ambulance was on the road again. At 8 a.m. the team from Wolfsburg set off towards Salzgitter. The guest Mirko was already waiting there. He and his companion then took a “short” trip onto the motorway towards Dortmund. The Malteser-Hilfsdienst eV reports about this in a press release.
Mirko is a big fan of BVB. When they arrived in Dortmund, Mirko and the Herzenswunsch team were already expected and welcomed by fan support. The seats were very close to the edge of the field, so everyone had a great view. Mirko watched the game with excitement and was rewarded with a home win for BVB.
Coincidentally VfL as opponents
After the game ended we went back with an overjoyed Mirko. It was a nice coincidence that VfL Wolfsburg was the opponent. We were soon home, happy but exhausted. “A very big thank you goes to Antje and the BVB for the great organization and cooperation,” explains Andreas Meißner, coordinator of the Herzenswunsch ambulance.
The Heart’s Desire Ambulance
Since 2016, the Maltesers have been offering the “Herzenswunsch ambulance” project in Lower Saxony, now at seven locations in the Diocese of Hildesheim alone: in Hanover, Celle, Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, Buxtehude, Hildesheim and Göttingen. Around 100 Maltese volunteers are available to drive seriously ill and dying patients in a fully equipped ambulance to a place of their choice that is important to them.
