“A new generation of coaches has grown up in Romania. These are young professionals, and these are coaches with obvious abilities and their own vision of football. And with burning eyes. They are the ones who must take on such responsibility as working with the Romanian national team.
Well, we can’t go back to the same thing again and again. It is not normal! Life goes on. There is no point in me coaching the Romanian national team. I am 78 years old, soon to be 79. Competition with the new generation of coaches is out of the question. They themselves must begin to work at this level.
But you don’t have to rely solely on young coaches. Pay attention to Gheorghe Hagi. He has accumulated so much experience that I am sure that he is ready to lead the Romanian national team now.
