Rescuers in Turkey are continuing their efforts to pull many people alive from the rubble, nearly 200 hours after a series of powerful earthquakes hit the country.

Rescue teams in Turkey and Syria continue to search for survivors under the rubble of the devastating earthquake that struck the two countries early last week, clinging to the hope of finding living survivors under the rubble of thousands of destroyed homes, or at least recovering the bodies of the missing to hand them over to their families.

An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale struck several areas in Turkey and Syria last Monday, killing thousands, leaving tens of thousands missing and injured, and destroying hundreds of homes, facilities and infrastructure.

And the Turkish authorities reported that at least 31,643 people were killed in the devastating earthquake that occurred in the Gaziantep region.

In an impressive video, published by the Syrian news agency “SANA” and spread on social media, rescuers succeeded in removing a 12-year-old boy, after nearly 8 days he spent under the rubble in Hatay province, southern Turkey.

The boy held the rescuer’s hand as he was placed on a stretcher with his head straight and his body covered, before he was taken to an ambulance.

The child appeared in a deplorable condition, as he was exhausted, but his heart was still beating with life. Immediately, the rescuers covered him for fear of the cold, in preparation for his transfer to the hospital for treatment.
