(Paris = Yonhap News) Correspondent Song Jin-won = In commemoration of writer Han Kang’s Nobel Prize in Literature, the Korean Cultural Center in France (Director Lee Il-yeol) is holding a Korean literature book exhibition called ‘Miracle on the Han River’ at the Cultural Center in Paris from the 7th (local time) to the end of March next year. ‘ will be held.
Inspired by the ‘Miracle on the Han River’, an expression referring to Korea’s rapid economic growth after the Korean War, the name of the exhibition was chosen to refer to the ‘miracle’ achieved by artist Han Kang.
The writer Han Kang’s corner introduces a total of 23 books, including representative works such as ‘The Vegetarian’, ‘The Boy Is Coming’, and ‘No Goodbye’, as well as their French editions.

In the ‘Korean Literature in the World’ section, you can see various Korean literary works that have become popular overseas, such as Hwang Seok-young’s ‘Three Generations of Railroad Workers’, Cho Nam-joo’s ‘Kim Ji-young, Born 1982’, and Jeong Bo-ra’s ‘The Curse Rabbit’.
The Italian play of the same name, based on a vegetarian story, will also meet French audiences from the 8th to the 16th. All tickets for the eight performances held at the Odéon Theater in the 17th district of Paris were sold out in advance.
The play Vegetarian is a work planned by Daria Deplorian, a director and actor at the Italian theater company INDEX, before Han Kang won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
For French performances, French and English subtitles are included to aid audience understanding.

Almost a month has passed since Han Kang won the Nobel Prize in Literature, but his works are still popular in French bookstores.
Joakim Schneff, editor of Grasse, a local publishing company that published the French edition of Han Kang’s ‘No Goodbye’ last year, said that 13,000 copies have been sold so far since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature. This is equivalent to the sales volume from its first publication at the end of August last year to just before the Nobel Prize was awarded.
Editor Schneff said, “About 4,000 books are sold every week,” and “I expect this trend to continue for the time being.”
