By establishing a relationship with the daughter of a tea seller from Bihar, BHU spent Rs 60 lakh on his treatment. At the same time, after 547 days of treatment, the tea seller’s daughter Priya will soon be discharged. Actually, 10 year old Priya, resident of Rohtas district of Bihar, got injured while playing in school. There was a lot of bleeding due to serious injury to the cervical spine.

Priya’s father Munna first got her treated in Sasaram hospital, but when her health started deteriorating, he came to BHU in February 2022. At that time he did not have a penny. When Priya was admitted to BHU, her chances of survival were very less. Doctors put him on ventilator and started treatment.

Treatment lasted 547 days
When Munna appealed to BHU officials due to lack of money, the university administration allowed free treatment along with food for the family. At the same time, after 547 days of treatment and hard work of the doctors, Priya is now able to speak.

60 lakh rupees were spent
Let us tell you that about Rs 10,000 was being spent every day on medicines and tests for Priya’s treatment. In this regard, approximately Rs 55 lakh was spent in 547 days. Apart from this, BHU has spent around Rs 6 lakh on the accommodation and food of his parents. Dr. Saurabh Singh, in-charge of BHU’s Trauma Center, said that BHU has spent a total of Rs 60 lakh on Priya’s treatment.

There was not a single penny for treatment
After Priya’s recovery, her family is now very happy. Priya’s father Munna told that Priya used to get love like home in the hospital. Everyone, starting from the doctor, loved and cherished him. They did not have a single penny for Priya’s treatment, but with the help of BHU, today the daughter has been saved.

Discharge will be possible soon
Professor Kavita of BHU’s Anesthesia Department said that Priya has almost completely recovered and is now able to talk. Soon he can be discharged from the hospital.
