Minuet: Celebrating 55 Years of Music with the Golden Anniversary Concerts

The jubilee concert program “Zelta 55” will feature the most beautiful and popular Minuet songs of all time, written by the composer Imants Kalniņš: “They danced one summer”, “Tin soldiers”, “Voice of the Cuckoo”, “Ballad of Johan”, “Song , where will you start”, “Four white shirts”, “They danced one summer” and others. The band’s early songs, written by Adrians Kukuvass, Juris Sēnāns and Juris Kulakovs, will also be played.

The Beatles can be considered the source of inspiration for “Minuet”. For the password – Imantu Kalniņu. His composed “Dziesma ko tu sinissis” has forever become the unofficial anthem of the “Minuet”, which is customary to listen to and sing along while standing.

Viks, or the poet Viktors Kalniņš, while waiting for the big anniversary of “Minuet”, states: “Let’s not talk about their years.” It’s like seeing the Rolling Stones live on stage.

Undoubtedly, the group “Minuets” is one of the most famous Latvian rock groups, which became popular as a performer of the music of the composer Imantas Kalniņas, in addition, “Minuets” is currently considered the oldest group in Latvia. The first performance of “Minuet” took place in 1968, when six Jūrmala schoolchildren got together, when the brothers Sējāni and Bartašević, together with their associates, started joint rehearsals in rock music. “Minuet” will celebrate its golden 55 years in the summer and autumn of 2023 by thrilling, touching and inviting you to sing together with all your heart.

Inese Pabērza, Adrians Kukuvass, Baiba Jagere, Normunds Puriņš, Juris Sējāns, Leons Sējāns, Raimonds Bartasevics and Ikars Rungis still play music in the group.
