The Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, called on Congress to start the debate on two reforms: labor and pension. On the other hand, the Government affirmed that there are no red lines of the Labor portfolio to carry them out.

The Government of President Gustavo Petro made a strong defense of the labor and pension reform projects, initiatives that will begin processing on Easter week in the Congress of the Republic. The Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, pointed out that Colombia needs the approval of these two reforms.
“The two projects are already settled in the Legislature, the labor reform is in the Seventh Commission of the House of Representatives and the pension reform by the Seventh Commission of the Senate. There they will begin their procedure that has to do with the assignment of speakers and later the methodology for the preparation of the presentation ”, explained the official.
In addition, he added, that in what has to do with the Chamber, there are already designated speakers, it is a plural commission of all parties, including the opposition, and there is already a coordinator of speakers. “I am waiting for them to return from Easter week to first meet with them and second, to be attentive and willing to all the requirements of the Seventh Commission and willing to participate in everything that we are summoned,” Ramirez said.
And he confirmed that in what has to do with the pension reform in the Seventh Committee of the Senate, they have already met with 10 senators to make a first socialization of the initiative with the sectoral calculations.
“We are not talking about red lines, but about a comprehensive reform in the case of old age protection in Colombia, with a very rigorous study that we have done, where each pillar is moderated specifically and in depth with the Ministry of Finance and we are hoping it will be improved”, said the head of the Labor portfolio.
